After receiving his undergraduate education from the University of Miami, Dr. Miguel Santamarina earned his doctorate from the University of Florida, College of Dentistry. There he was honored with the Thomas P. Hinman Scholarship, named a Hinman Scholar and graduated first in his class of sixty-six. Among the awards he received while at University were the prestigious Alpha Omega Award, for highest scholastic standing and the annual Quintessence Publishing Company awards, for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry and in Periodontics.
Advanced General Dentist
Dr. Santamarina remained at the University of Florida College of Dentistry to complete his postdoctoral training in General Practice and earn his certificate of Advanced Specialty Training in General Dentistry, which included training at Shands Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital. The highly specialized training that Dr. Santamarina received in the General Practice Residency program made him the perfect Advanced General Dentist to join the practice. Dr. Santamarina has the expertise to treat medically compromised patients and provide the high level of support and patient care Palm Beach Prosthodontics demands.

Dr. Santamarina enjoys all aspects of adult comprehensive dentistry. Through thousands of hours of continuing education, he has continued to expand his knowledge in the fields of implant surgery and prosthetics as well as cosmetic dentistry. As part of the team at Palm Beach Prosthodontics, he is directly involved in the treatment of patients who require advanced care in order to reestablish their function and smile.
Personal Interests
Dr. Santamarina enjoys outdoor sports in his free time and is an avid fisherman and free diver. He donates time at his local church of Saint Thomas More and offers his dental services locally and on medical/dental mission trips to Central America.

Dr. Jairo Salcedo earned his initial degree from the Universidad Javeriana, in his native Colombia. He then trained at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) in Boston, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Master of Medical Science in Oral Biology (MMSc) degrees as well as his Advanced Postdoctoral Certification in Prosthodontics.
Distinguished Teacher
Dr. Salcedo is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at University of Florida. He is in charge of Fixed Prosthodontics in the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Program at the Hialeah Dental Center where he teaches every Tuesday.
During his time at Harvard, Dr. Salcedo held several teaching positions, including Director of Pre-doctoral Prosthodontics, Director of the International Program in General Dentistry, and Interim Director of the Graduate Program in Prosthodontics. His contributions were recognized with the Student’s Distinguished Faculty Member Award for instruction in the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences, and Course of the Year Award as Director for the Restorative Block.
Dr. Salcedo has been a guest lecturer for the residents at the General Practice Residence (GPR) program at V.A. Medical Center, West Palm Beach, dentists at the Palm Beach State College Dental Research Clinic, and prosthodontic residents at Universidad del Valle, and Colegio Odontologico Colombiano.
Noted Researcher
Dr. Salcedo provided patient care and conducted clinical trials in a practice limited to Prosthodontics at HSDM. He has published and holds patents for his research on healing around dental implants. His current research interests are in the area of Digital Dentistry, and the long-term success of zirconium all-ceramic, and Lithium Disilicate restorations. He has presented his research findings at national and international dental symposia and universities.
Innovative Practitioner
Dr. Salcedo focuses on all aspects of Prosthodontics at Palm Beach Prosthodontics with an emphasis on Smile Design, Full Mouth Restoration, and failing dentitions. He is particularly attuned to special needs of patients whose oral problems are complicated by severe trauma, health issues, medication, and/or physical limitations. Once his patients have been restored to proper oral health, they become part of our office Comprehensive Prevention and Maintenance Program to help sustain their dental hygiene, ensure the long-term success of their restorations, and avoid the damaging effects that oral disease can inflict on their systemic health.

Dr. Salcedo has a special interest in Early Child Development. He has helped with the development and funding for El Caracoli in Yumbo, Colombia. El Caracolí is an Early Integral Development Center that was founded in June 2010 with the purpose of improving the quality of life of children under 5 years of age, through comprehensive care and early education.

Dr. Luisa F. Recio trained at the Universidad Javeriana in Colombia, and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) in Boston, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and Master of Medical Science in Oral Biology (MMSc) degrees as well as her Advanced Postdoctoral Certification in Periodontics.
Expert Treatment
Periodontists are dentistry’s experts in treating periodontal disease. They receive three additional years of specialized training beyond dental school in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum disease, the restoration of teeth supporting structures, and in the placement of dental implants.
Dr. Recio’s treatment includes scaling and root planning (in which the infected surface of the root is cleaned) or root surface debridement (in which damaged tissue is removed), advanced periodontal disease (severe gum problems) to eliminate periodontal pockets, infection, bad breath, tooth mobility, and gum recession. Dr. Recio’s treatment for the restoration of teeth includes the removal of hopeless teeth, bone grafting, sinus lift, implant placement, and maintenance.

Dr. Kannikal’s training commenced with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. She continued her education at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine and was honored as the recipient of the Award in Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Kannikal completed postdoctoral training with a one year implant fellowship in conjunction with the Department of Periodontics at Nova Southeastern University. She is currently a member of the International Team of Implantology and Atlantic Coast District Dental Research Clinic.

Dr. Schneider was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. She developed a unique passion for dentistry early in her life. She obtained her dental license from Santa Maria University in 2010 and was a member of the Venezuelan Dental Colleges Association. After working for 5 years, she decided to expand her knowledge and received further training in the AEGD program at the University of Florida. This program has allowed her to improve and expand her skills in the dental field, enabling her to provide comprehensive dental treatments to her patients.

Dr. Schneider is the mother of three wonderful boys who keep her days full of new adventures and fun. She enjoys dancing and traveling with her family. She is passionate about dentistry, especially because it has allowed her to help others and make a difference in people's lives.

Dr. Howard Kay received his undergraduate education at the University of Florida and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1968. Following a two-year tour as a dental officer in the United States Navy, he completed his postdoctoral residency at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, where he received his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Prosthetic Dentistry in 1972.
International Recognition
Dr. Kay is internationally recognized for his work in periodontal prosthetics, as well as in prosthetic, implant and esthetic reconstruction. He has lectured extensively at all levels, including international forums and specialty programs—notably presentations to The Academy of Osseointegration, The American College of Prosthodontics/American Academy of Periodontology Joint Meeting, The Italian Society of Periodontology, The Japan Academy of Implant Dentistry, and The International Symposium of Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry—and implant training programs and symposia. He was one of only five clinicians invited to lecture at Osaka 2000, a Pan-Asian meeting on Prosthodontics in the New Millennium.
Noted Textbook Author
Dr. Kay, working with Dr. Keough and periodontists Marvin M. Rosenberg and Robert L. Holt, co-wrote Periodontal & Prosthetic Management of Advanced Cases, a landmark dental reconstruction textbook, published in multiple languages, that to be used in dental schools today. He has also authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed dental journals, including The International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry and Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry.

Dr. Kay and Dr. Keough are pioneers in the use of CAD/CAM technology to establish BIO-HIP Zirconia, the strongest of all ceramic materials, as the material of choice for creation of both esthetically beautiful and durable restorations.

Dr. Bernard Keough graduated Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky and received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry, graduating second in his class. There he was honored with the Academy of General Dentistry Award, and the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators Achievement Award for excellence in restorative dentistry. Following active duty in the United States Air Force, Dr Keough graduated from Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry receiving his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Prosthetic Dentistry.

Dr. Keough has presented his clinical findings at international symposia in Germany, Italy, and Spain, and at meetings and study clubs in the United States.
